After repairing the various rips, tears & scratches, the issue with this image was tonality.

I wanted to brighten and highlight their faces without losing the interesting background.
 
 
 

 
  The original of this restoration hangs permanently on the wall of Ladder 28 firehouse in Harlem N.Y., known affectionately as The Harlem Hilton. The restored version hangs in the chiefs' office.

Being a lifelong New Yorker this image carries a special significance to me.
